While enjoying the scenery of Kawasaki and Yokohama from the train window, we arrived at Yokosuka Chuo Station, the gateway to sightseeing in Yokosuka. Now, let's start sightseeing in the fascinating Yokosuka! First, collect information about your trip. At the tourist information center to the left of the ticket gate at Yokosuka Chuo Station, ask the staff for recommended sightseeing routes.

What is particularly eye-catching at the tourist information center are the many pocket-sized tourist information pamphlets. We cover all of Yokosuka's tourist information, including gourmet food, hiking, walks by the sea, museums, and hands-on facilities.

If you want to feel like a resort and take a walk while looking out at the wide blue ocean, we recommend the Hashirimizu Kannonzaki Boardwalk. The wooden deck promenade built just north of Kannonzaki, the gateway to Tokyo Bay, has an outstanding sense of openness. Since it is built right next to the ocean, you can enjoy an open walk while feeling the sea breeze and listening to the sound of the waves. On the other side of the ocean is the town of Kisarazu. If you sit on the benches set up here and there, you can watch ships from all over the world sailing gracefully.
Particularly recommended walking courses include Kannonzaki Lighthouse and Kannonzaki Park. Kannonsaki Lighthouse is Japan's first Western-style lighthouse, built for the navigation of foreign ships at the time of the country's opening. It was completed in the 2nd year of Meiji by a French engineer. It has been rebuilt every time a disaster occurs, such as the Great Kanto Earthquake, and the third generation lighthouse is currently in use.
Kannonzaki Park, which uses the entire mountain of Kannonzaki, is a treasure trove of nature. It is a park where you can enjoy not only the mountains but also the sea, and the scenery is wonderful.

As you stroll along the Hashirimizu Kannonzaki Boardwalk, a modern building covered in glass catches your eye. That is the Yokosuka Museum of Art, which collects masterpieces of modern and contemporary art related to Yokosuka and the Miura Peninsula. It was built in 2007 to commemorate Yokosuka City's 100th anniversary as a city, with the concept that "the entire environment is a museum." Because it was built in a location overlooking Kannonzaki to the south and Tokyo Bay to the front, it was even ranked high in Japan's ranking of most scenic museums. The interior of the building is designed with conductors so that the architecture itself becomes the scenery, allowing you to enjoy the building along with the works.

The rooftop plaza at Yokosuka Museum of Art has a particularly nice view. You can see the seascape from the rooftop plaza, and it has been certified as a ``lover's sacred place.''
If you're feeling hungry, head to Aquamare, the Italian restaurant attached to the museum. The restaurant serves dishes made with ingredients from the surrounding area.

One of the must-try dishes when visiting Yokosuka is "Yokosuka Navy Curry." Today, Japan has its own unique curry style, which dates back to the late 19th century when the Japanese Navy began making curry based on the British Navy's curry recipe. Yokosuka, which was the center of the navy at the time, was the birthplace of Japanese-style curry. The curry from that time was published in a book published in 1908, and Yokosuka Navy Curry was recreated based on this recipe.
It is served at many stores in Yokosuka City, but one of the main features of Yokosuka Naval Curry Honpo is that it faithfully reproduces the original recipe. Since water and fuel are precious on warships, the ingredients are diced into small pieces to speed up the cooking process. In addition, the taste of those days has been recreated down to the smallest details, such as always serving it with vegetable salad, milk, and mango chutney. The flavor of the vegetables and fruits and the slight spiciness of the curry spice combine to create a taste that you can't help but eat too much of.

2 minutes walk from Yokosuka Chuo Station on the Keikyu Main LineThe best place to experience Yokosuka, which developed as a military port city, is Dobuita Street, a short walk from Shioiri Station. Many of the people you pass by are U.S. Navy personnel, and there are English signboards, giving it an exotic feel. Yokosuka, which has long been influenced by America, has a mix of past and present, and is sure to be a fun stroll.

Yokosuka Navy Burger is recommended for dinner on Dobuita Street! It adheres to the traditional recipe provided by the U.S. Navy Yokosuka Base, including using at least 170g of 100% beef, and is served at several stores. For dessert, I had Yokosuka cherry cheesecake. The Japanese symbol ``cherry'' is an accent.
